Letter of invitation
for the open days
in October 1999
We are pleased to invite you to our three
open days which we organize in October,
on Friday 22th,
from 12 pm to 9 pm, Saturday 23rd and Sunday
24th from 10 am to 7 pm
in our warehouse
located in Rue de Chambéry,
45 in Etterbeek - Brussels.
Our shop will exceptionally be closed
for these three days.
We found a lot of very interesting pieces this summer.
Here are some of the items we found :
Items:
1 jingasa (bowman's helmet)
- 1 yari (spear) - 1 kendai (Book stand for theatre) -
1 goban (Go game set) - A
variety of dolls of which a few very nice warriors - 1 yoroi-ningyo (Doll armor) - Some statuettes
of which one from Karatsu - Some shishi
(Lion-dog statue), one in bronze - Some kimono,
haori and other traditional
Japanese clothes, also some obi
(kimono sash) - A lot of owan
(lacquered bowls) - 2 ju-bako
(special day's lunch lacquered box) - Some iko
(kimono rack) - 1 andon (lamp)
- Some usubata (bronze vase)
- 1 kouro (incense burner)
- ranma (ornament which is
placed on top of sliding doors) - Some sudare
(shades) - 2 tsunodaru (sake
cask) - Some tetsubin ( kettle)
- Multi-purpose cases and boxes : hari-bako
(used for sewing), kyodai
(dressing), suzuri-bako (ink
stone box), bento-bako (lunch
box), zeni-bako
(money-box), ...
Also some Japanese mirrors, a few old tools, various vases and
accessories for ikebana, some abacus,some stone lantern for garden,
some multi-purpose baskets, some accessories as well as various
ornament and little contemporary traditional Japanese style crockery.
Furniture:
6 monoire-dansu
(cupboard) - 9 mizuya-dansu (kitchen cabinet) of various sizes, of
which a very large one (2.70 m) - Some kaidan-dansu
(Japanese staircase chest) - Many isho-dansu (chest of drawers used to put clothes
and kimonos away) - A few splendid choba-dansu
(merchant chest) - Several ko-dansu
(small multi-purpose furniture) - some cha-dana
(tea chest) - Some old Japanese doors - 6 hibachi
(brazier table) - 2 kotatsu
- Many low tables - A few low desks - A few splendid chests -
etc..
Our selection criteria : all the pieces that we bring back must be genuine, have less than 10% of restoration and have been made before WW2. More recent pieces are not excluded if they represent traditional Japan and are very rare as antique.
