Open Days Spring 2002

We are pleased to invite you to our three open days that we organize on Friday, May 3rd, from 12 PM to 9 PM. On Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th from 10 AM to 7 PM in our warehouse located in Rue de Chambery, 45 in Etterbeek - Brussels.
Our shop will exceptionally be closed that week.

Last February, we came back from Japan after having spent a few weeks in the Southern region, collecting a wide range of objects and some very nice pieces of furniture as well.
Here are some of the items that we will show during this preview sale:

 

butsudan (photo1)Many religious & related items among which a very nice butsudan (Buddhist family altar) photo1, a few suzu (small bell), a few kane (singing bowl), many kouro (incense burner) and other accessories, a saisenbako (temple collection box), a kamidana (Shinto family altaar), a shokudai (candle stand), a nice mokugyo (wooden gong) and many statuettes of Butsuzo (Buddha) and other religious figures.

Many ikebana and tea related items like quite a few hanakago (ikebana basket), a few kadai (low display table) and dai (show stand), many vases like some hanatate, ichirinzashi, kaki and kabin, some kenzan (flower stand), many hanaire (ikebana stand), a few usubata (ikebana vase in bronze), various accessories for the tea ceremony, some very nice tetsubin (kettle), some chaire (tea leaves pot), some kashiki (dish for cakes), etc..

A lot of mushaningyo (samurai doll) photo2 and plenty of small hinaningyo (girl's day doll) - A few okimono (ornament in bronze) - One goban (go game set) - One saikoroire (dice game set) - Many hon (books), a suzuri (ink stone),musha-ningyo (photo2) a tanzaku-kake (frame for tanzaku), a lot of fuchin (scroll's weights) and many kakemono or kakejiku (hanging scroll) - A few tekagami (mirror) - A couple of soroban (abacus) - A few tabakobon (ashtray-set) - Some kiseru (pipe) - A toro (garden lantern) and three chozu-bachi (water basin) - Some obi (kimono sash) and a few haori - An iko (kimono stand) - Some accessories as well as various ornament and a very nice teaburi (hand warmer) - A nice lacquered taiko (traditional drum) - Accessories for hibachi brazier table - A few decorative swords - A furin (summer bell) - A pair of geta (wooden shoes).

jubako (photo3)Multipurpose cases and boxes among which a kakesuzuri-bako (portable writing box safe), many suzuri-bako (ink stone box), some hari-bako (sewing box), some kohikidashi (small drawers' chest), some kyodai (dressing table with mirror). Some very nice lacquered jubako and bentobako (lunch box) photo3 - A few multipurpose baskets - Many owan (lacquered bowl) - A set of takazen (dinner-table) - Quite a few lacquered obon (tray) - Some sakazuki (sake cup) - A few hyotan (sake gourd) - Some nice sara (plate), a couple of very nice echoushi (sake kettle) and a lot of contemporary traditional Japanese style crockery for tea, sake, food, etc..

Our selection criteria: all the pieces that we bring back must be genuine, have had less than 15% of restoration and have been made before mid twentieth century.
