Open Days

 

We are pleased to invite you to our three open days which we organize on Friday, March 30th, from 12 PM to 9 PM. On Saturday, March 31th and Sunday, March 1st from 10 AM to 7 PM in our warehouse located in Rue de Chambôry, 45 in Etterbeek - Brussels.
Our shop will exceptionally be closed for these three days.

Last January, we came back from Japan after having spent five weeks collecting a wide range of objects and some very nice pieces of furniture as well. Here are some of the items we found:

Small Items:

Dai (show stand) - 1 furo (tea ceremony brazier) - 1 very nice lacquered tsuzumi (traditional drum) and 1 jindaiko (war drum) - 1 kane (bell) - 1 very old mokugyo (wooden gong) - 5 kouro (incens burner) - 2 kaibitsu (chest for kaiawase game) - 1 very nice kote (iron) - 1 old hagoita (girlØs day raquet) - 2 goban (go game set) - Many hon (books) - 2 ittomasu (rice mesure) - 2 geta (wooden shoes) - Kadai (bonsai's display table) - 4 furin (summer bells) - Many kakemono (scroll) - 2 tekagami (miroir) - 1 old pair of ranma (ornament which is placed on top of sliding doors) - Soroban (abacus) - 1 tabakobon (ashtray-set) - 1 teaburi (hand warmer) - 1 very nice tetsubin (kettle) - 2 tsuridoro (lantern) - Usubata (Ikebana vase) - Many statuettes and okimono - Obis (kimono sash), kimonos, haori, happi, hakama and other traditional Japanese clothes - Some ningyo (doll) - Many kokeshi (wooden doll) - 1 echoushi (sake kettle) - Owan (lacquered bowl) - 1 chago (tea shovel) - Iko (kimono stand) - Some multipurpose baskets: 4 big size biku (fish basket), 8 kago (food basket), several hanaire (ikebana stand) - Multipurpose cases and boxes: 1 kakesuzuri-bako (portable writing box-safe), many hari-bako (used for sewing), some kohikidashi (small drawers' chest), kyodai (dressing), ju-bako & bento-bako (lunch lacquered box) - Kashigata (rice cake pattern) - Obon (tray) - Hanate and kabin (vases) - Some accessories as well as various ornament and little contemporary traditional Japanese style crockery for tea, sake, etc..

Furnitures:

Several cha-dansu (tea chest) - Some choba-dansu (merchant chest) - 1 endai (chest with tatami) - Many mizuya-dansu (kitchen cabinet) of various sizes - A lot of isho-dansu (kimono and personal garments chest) - Monoire-dansu (storing chest) - Many ko-dansu (small multipurpose furniture) - To (old doors) - many Korean Chests - Some hibachi (brazier table) - Low tables - Low desks - Etc..

Our selection criteria: all the pieces that we bring back must be genuine, have less than 15% of restoration and have been made before WW2. More recent pieces are not excluded if they represent traditional Japan and are very rare as antique.
